Request
If the Lingnan University Library materials you need are:
- Checked out by other users;
- In Process of Cataloguing; or
- Available on shelves
You may place a Request in 1-Search to get item(s) from the Lingnan University Library collection or other partner libraries*. Library will process your request, arrange the Pickup, and inform you via email accordingly. Request quota varies by user types. Please refer to Checkout Privileges for details.
*For items not available in the Lingnan Library collection, you may switch the search scope to “HKALL and Partners” in 1-Search and place a HKALL and Partners service request.
To place a Request for a Library material, you have to:
- Sign in to the 1-Search.
- If a Request button is shown in the record, you can follow the on-screen instructions to click Request.
- Select "Pickup Location" from the dropdown menu. Lingnan University staff can choose the Office Delivery Service; the Library will deliver the requested item(s) to your Department General Office.


Pickup
- The Library will send a Pickup Notice via email when your requested material is ready for pickup. Most items can be collected from the Self-Pickup Locker (1/F Zone B), certain items may require pickup at the Service Counter (1/F Zone A) during Library's Regular Opening Hours.
- Please refer to the Pickup Notice for the pickup location and ensure pickup before the expiry date stated in the email to avoid cancellation of the request.

Recall
All checked-out Library materials, including items from the Lingnan University Library collection as well as HKALL and Partners materials, are subject to recall.
- Recall means if another user requests an item you have checked out, the original due date of your checkout item may be shortened, and the item will no longer be eligible for renewal.
- Library will inform you via email about the recall status and the change to the due date (if any). Please always check your LU email account to keep yourself updated on any changes regarding your checked-out Library material(s).
- Fines and Fees will be incurred for late check-in, and your Checkout Privileges will be affected.
