Perspective donations for ASC Collection would be carefully reviewed according to our Collection Development Policy.
We accept materials in any tangible or electronic formats, including but not limited to:
- Personal records
- Memorabilia / Realia / Ephemera
- Art or Artifacts
- Audio-Visual Materials
We also welcome donation of “Contents”. We understand some collectibles or materials would have special meaning to the owner or as Lingnanians. Thus, instead of transferring the ownership, the contents can be temporarily deposit to ASC for reformatting or reproduction on appropriate media for retention. ASC staff would liaise with the donors concerned for details.
All accepted materials for Archives and Special Collections would be handled with caution and care.
- Accessioning and Appraisal
Whenever applicable and necessary, a copy of Deed of Gift, would be issued for dual signature by the following two parties, to confirm the transferal of copyright / ownership / custodial right of the item(s) donated to ASC, and also prescribes conditions and restrictions (if any) related to the donation:
- Donor (or his/her designate / representative)
- Representative of Lingnan University
- Arrangement and Description
Accepted materials would be further appraised and arranged by the Archives and Special Collections Team. Descriptive Cataloging record / Finding Aids would be created, addressing the content and historical scope of the materials and a description of how the collection is arranged.
All records / finding aids are open for searching and browsing.

Collection on Prof. Ming K. Chan’s Research
Prof. Ming K. Chan was a distinguished scholar known for his research in Labour Union matters, Sino-foreign relations and studies on Hong Kong, Macau and Guangdong.
His family kindly donated part of his research collection to Lingnan University Library. The launching ceremony was held on 24 Nov 2020 to commemorate this valuable donation. Click HERE for details.
Lee Yuk Wang's Collection of Lingnan Records
The family of the late Mr. Lee Yuk-wang 李毓宏學長 (Lingnan alumnus of Class 1943, 榮社) donated a collection of Lingnan records to the Archives in June 2014, to which comprises of various unique Lingnan-related photographs, documents and memorabilia of the late Mr. Lee. A ceremony, officiated by Lee's daughter, Ms. Lee Wing Yee, was held on 28 June 2014 to commemorate this valuable donation. Click HERE for details.
Art Collections from Lingnan Foundation
Lingnan Foundation based in the United States donated two key Art Collections with enduring value to Lingnan University in 2008:
- Szto Wai: Portraits of Lingnan University 1937-1944
- Lingnan School of Paintings
The Opening Ceremony of the Exhibition, officiated by Dr. Shirley Mow (Chairman) and Dr. Edward Rhoads (Member) of Lingnan Foundation, and Former President Prof. Chan Yuk-Shee, was held at the Library on 22 October 2008. Click HERE for details
