Library Notice

Self-Checkout Station

2 Self-Checkout Stations are available in the Library Lobby (1/F Zone B) and the Course Reserves area (1/F Zone A). You can easily and conveniently check out Library materials by following the on-screen instructions.

A book steriliser is located next to the Self-Checkout Station for sterilising up to 6 regular-sized Library materials in about 1 minute.

Self-Pickup Locker

The Self-Pickup Locker (1/F Zone B) comprises 64 individual lockers, providing a secure and convenient option for your collection of requested items from Lingnan University Library as well as HKALL and Partners.

After requesting and receiving the Pickup Notice email notification, with your LU Card, you can follow the on-screen instructions to pick up and check out your requested items anytime through the Library’s Regular Opening Hours and Overnight Study Period

Touchscreen Facilities Search Kiosk

Touchscreen Kiosks have been installed on all Library floors for you to navigate the Library with your fingertips. The kiosk will allow you to search for Library facilities and take note of the Library's real-time floor occupancy and also environmental wellness data.

Toilets

Female and Male Toilets are available on 1/F, 2/F and 3/F in the Library during Library's Regular Opening Hours. 2 Accessible Toilets are available on 1/F Zone A and Zone C, and 1 is located on 3/F Zone C.

An Unisex Toilet (1/F Zone B) is available for use during Overnight Study Period

Drinking Water Refill Stations

Touchless Drinking Water Refill Stations have been installed on 1/F, 2/F, and 3/F in the Library to enhance the well-being of our users, and also contribute to environmental preservation by reducing the consumption of bottled water. The Stations only provide room-temperature water. Users are required to bring your own water bottle to use the facility. They can be accessed through the Library’s Regular Opening Hours and Overnight Study Period.

Powerbank Rental Kiosk

In case you do not bring along a power charger or powerbank with you. A Powerbank Rental Kiosk is available in the Library Lobby (1/F Zone B), accessible through the Library’s Regular Opening Hours and Overnight Study Period. Simply follow the easy instructions on the kiosk or app and keep your phone, tablet and notebook devices charged up.

Cleaning Robots

2 sets of Cleaning Robots, Woody, have been installed on 1/F and 3/F in the Library to help keep the Library clean. They will be operated after the Library's Regular Opening Hours. They may be occasionally deployed during the daytime when there is a need.

AV Equipment at Multimedia Booth

Located at the Lee Hak Kan Multimedia and Language Learning Centre (MLLC) (2/F Zone C), a Multimedia Production Booth supported by ITSC is available for users to digitise and edit audio and video materials for their learning and research needs. 

Microfilm Workstation

A Microfilm Workstation is available at Lee Hak Kan Multimedia and Language Learning Centre (MLLC) (2/F Zone C) for viewing the microfilm collections. You can book a session on the Library Rooms/Facilities Booking System and follow the steps below to use the workstation:

  1. Switch on the computer and the microfilm reader at its back.
  2. Open the software "Power Scan 2000" on the computer.
  3. Choose the size of the film in the software.
  4. (On the reader) Pull out the Carrier Handle to open up the Glass Slate area and Load the film (see the video for details).
  5. (On the reader) Push the Carrier Handle back to start viewing the content from the software
  6. Adjust the image by "Zoom In / Out", "Rotate" or adjust the brightness and contrast if needed
  7. To get a copy of the useful information, move the green frame to that part and press "Scan to Drive" to get the image file stored in your USB drive.
    Note: Saving files to online storage or printing directly from the Microfilm Workstation are not available. You will need to bring a USB drive as storage to get the file if you wish.
  8. After finishing using the film, please pull out the Carrier Handle to ensure the Glass Slate released the film and then press "Rewind" twice.
  9. Unload the film from the reader and switch off the power.
  10. Log off the computer.

Booking Rules:
Please book the Microfilm Workstation on the Library Rooms/Facilities Booking System.

Eligible Users: Staff and Student
Quota:
  • 2 sessions per day
    (maximum 1 hour per session)
  • 4 sessions per week
  • 20 sessions per month
  • Reset on Sunday
  • Bookings will be served by a first-come-first-served basis.
  • The bookings are not transferable. The workstation is reserved for those who booked them only.
  • The workstation will be released to others if the user does not show up after 15 minutes.
  • No-show without making any cancellation will count against the quota limit.
  • Users are responsible for the loss and damage of equipment used.
  • Regulations will be subject to change without prior notice.
  • The Library reserves the right to cancel any booking without prior notice.
