On March 19, the Centre for Humanities Research (CHR) invited well-acclaimed photographer Ms. Wong Wo-bik and curator Ms. Sylvia Ng to speak on the Photography of the 1950s. This is the 16th seminar of the Hong Kong Literature and Culture of the 1950s Seminar Series held by CHR.Ms. Sylvia Ng has introduced to us the organizations, activities and magazines of photography from the 1940s to 1960s. She has also explained to the audience the details in the works of the photographers of the 1950s. What amazed the audience was that those photographers were able to edit the film to some extent similar to Photoshop. Ms. Wong Wo-bik spoke on a well-respected photographer Yau Leung (1941-1997), who photographed the details of Hong Kong streetscapes and earned international reputation in the 1990s.
