Tropical Cyclone / "Extreme Conditions" & Black Rainstorm Arrangement

The University Library will make the following special arrangements when Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above, "Extreme Conditions", or Black Rainstorm Signal is issued.

Typhoon Signal No. 8 or Above / "Extreme Conditions"

Time of hoisting / lowering / cancelled

Library will

Pre-No. 8 Typhoon Warning Signal is issued 2 hours before opening hours remain closed
Typhoon Signal No.8 or above is hoisted /
"Extreme Conditions" are in force before opening hours
Pre-No. 8 Typhoon Warning Signal is issued when Library is open close within 1 hour after the issuance of the warning signal
Typhoon Signal No.8 or above hoisted /
"Extreme Conditions" are in force when Library is open
close immediately
Typhoon Signal No.8 or above is lowered /
"Extreme Conditions" are cancelled before 4:00 p.m.
(Monday – Friday during Term time & Examination period)
open as soon as practicable within 2 hours
Typhoon Signal No.8 or above is lowered /
"Extreme Conditions" are cancelled before 1:00 p.m.
(Saturday, Sunday, Term 3 and Term break)

Black Rainstorm Warning is in force before opening hours remain closed
Black Rainstorm Warning is in force when Library is open remain open
Black Rainstorm Warning is lowered before 4:00 p.m.
(Mon – Fri during Term time & Examination period)
open as soon as practicable within 2 hours
Black Rainstorm Warning is lowered before 1:00 p.m.
(Sat, Sun, Term 3 and Term break)
